Maybe you’re a regular attendee, or maybe you’ve only been once. Maybe you’ve never experienced a live storytelling event, and you’re curious. Whatever category you fall into, this is your chance to have the Front Parlor experience on both sides of the Hudson River two days in a row! Can you handle it?!
Join host Tim Dawkins tonight in downtown Albany starting at 7:30 PM at The Olde English Pub at 25 Quackenbush Square (just one block away from the Palace Theater) for “A Family Affair: Stories about the important people in our lives (biological or not).”
Tomorrow night head on over to The Ale House at 680 River St. in Troy to join host Abby Lublin, the person who got this ball rolling in our area so many months ago, starting at 7:30 PM for “Pooped (interpret as you will).”
Remember, these events depend on you. Without an audience, live storytelling is just some weird guy standing in front of a microphone talking to himself. So bundle up, hop in your preferred form of personal transportation, and join us on this train as it leaves the station. Telling a story is not required. We like good listeners, too! And bring friend. We’re continually trying to grow these events (especially Albany), and you are key in getting the word out.
We hope to see you there. You never know who you’ll meet! I mean really….what else do you have to do on a Monday or Tuesday night in November?
Damn you Sandy!!**
Due to supposed impending doom being driven by the inevitable oncoming mass of weather known as an extra-tropical storm (because it will no longer be fueled by the warm waters of the Atlantic but rather by a low pressure system dragging it kicking and screaming inland – don’t say we never taught you anything), we have decided to postpone the rebirth of storytelling at the Olde English Pub in Albany scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, October 29th. We will absolutely reschedule for November, and we’ll send out an update as soon as the date is chosen. Stay dry, and just to be safe call that friend who borrowed your canoe 5 years ago. You might need it!
** Our apologies to anyone named Sandy
Chris, giving the crowd what they want
It’s almost the third Monday of the month, and that means storytelling in Saratoga Springs. If this is the first time you’re hearing about a storytelling night north of Troy, you’re not alone. We may be the small, nerdy, and sometimes gassy younger cousin of Abby’s Front Parlor Series, but we’ve got some crafty tricks up our proverbial sleeve. We know how to hang (as long as you have an open mind when we start going on about that new episode of Dr. Who).
This month we’re welcoming 2012 with stories told around the theme of “something new.” As always, interpret that as you will. Come on over (or up or down – Saratoga’s not THAT far away, and there are no scary hats this time of year) and join us at Virgil’s House, 86 Henry St., downtown behind the Parting Glass and the public library.
The stories begin at 7pm this Monday, January 16th. Hope to see you there!
