Submit a story for the Bookmarks Series at the Arts Center of the Capital Region!

Abby is curating and hosting a storytelling event at the Arts Center in March. Bookmarks is “an annual series of group readings and performances featuring work that is grounded in personal experience.” PLEASE CONSIDER SUBMITTING A STORY!  All stories shared at Front Parlor will work well here. And for those of you resisting the microphone and no-notes rule at Front Parlor, you read from your paper for Bookmarks!

Submission deadline is FEBRUARY 23.

More details here:  http://www.artscenteronline.org/Bookmarks-Reading-SeriesTransformation/12194/

Flyers will be available at Front Parlor events.

Tuesday, January 13 @ The Ale House (Troy)
Hosted by Abby Lublin
7:30 – 9:30 pm
680 River Street
Theme: “Takin’ Care of Business”

Every day.  Every way.

Turn your daily slogging into story fodder.

Did you work a job that required extra grit?  An oddity of your commute?  Adventures in entrepreneurship?  Or perhaps the theme reminds you of a particular time you did what needed doing, the the doing made an impact.  (Revenge, anyone?) …and  you’re feeling randy, yep, feel free to share a tale about that business too.

Monday, January 19 (MLK, Jr. Day) The Olde English Pub (Albany)
Hosted by Gregor Wynnyczuk
7:30 – 9:30 pm
25 Quackenbush Square
Theme: “My First Time”

When we get more practiced at something we get more comfortable – the muscle memory takes over and we don’t need to think as much. But when we do something new for the first time – that’s when we are really in the moment. Think about those moments, and the stories around them. What was it like to be a beginner?

Given that stories need a beginning, middle and an end this is a great opportunity to think about how you were before, as compared to how you are now.

Share widely.

If you’d like to throw your name in the can to tell a story, and you know you’ll be a lil’ late, post a comment here.

See you ’round the mic. And as always…

Listening is an act of love.
