February 2016: 5 Years!

6 Feb

February 2016 Events

Tuesday, February 9 @ The Ale House (Troy)
Hosted by Abby Lublin
7:30 – 9:30 pm
680 River Street
Theme: “Extra Mile”

Five years ago, Front Parlor began with ten brave stories of love.  This Tuesday, we celebrate FIVE YEARS of public storytelling in Troy with tales of extra.  Come share or listen to stories about extra effort, unforeseen obstacles, marathons, or unmarked territories.

We would not have made five years without YOU: courageously vulnerable tellers and attentively reverent listeners.

Oh, and yes, there will be cake.  Mmmm, cake.

See you this Tuesday at the Ale House.

Monday, February 15 The Olde English Pub (Albany)
Hosted by Gregor Wynnyczuk
7:30 – 9:30 pm
25 Quackenbush Square
Theme: “Heartbreak”

Sure, it was painful. You put yourself out there, you laid it on the line. You thought this was it. In fact, you were in so far, so fast, you never saw it coming…

Enjoy a Valentine’s Day hangover with some epic stories of broken hearts and love gone bad.

Sign-up is at 7:30 pm.

Tuesday, February 16 @ Taphouse at Catamount Glass (Bennington, VT)
Hosted by Forest Byrd
Seating starts at 7 pm, Stories at 7:30 pm
309 County St., Bennington, VT 05201
Theme: “It Wasn’t Me”
**(Get there early. Over 60 people last month.)

You were blamed, and you were innocent. Or perhaps you didn’t get the credit you deserved.  Perhaps you are masterful at getting away with things anonymously. When I was young, “it wasn’t me” was one of my frequent responses.  At the risk of revealing your brilliant plans or secret identities, some share a story.  …and if you live in Troy or elsewhere in the surrounding area, the folks in Bennington won’t know you and won’t see you coming!

**NEW EVENT: Storytelling for Young Folk – Ages 5-16**
This event is for younger humans ONLY (though the parents and adults can watch, of course).

Say Anything at Catamount Glass – Bennington, VT
Sunday, February 14 @ Catamount Glass (same place as the Tap but transformed)

Hosted by Forest Byrd
Seating starts 2pm. 2:30 stories start.
309 County St., Bennington, VT 05201
Theme: “Larger Than Life”

At times the world seems huge and too hard to handle. This is your moment. Say whatever comes to mind. (In the form of a story: think start, middle, and end.) You will have up to 4 minutes on the microphone. There will be food, drinks, and snacks for everyone. It will be an afternoon to remember, as “Say Anything” is a safe place to let your voices be heard.

Share widely.

If you’d like to throw your name in the can to tell a story, and you know you’ll be a lil’ late, post a comment here.

See you ’round the mic. And as always…

Listening is an act of love.
